Last Thursday I met with the contractor for Alma’s House, David Dowdakin. It is our first project together, so we spent some time getting to know each other and, I must say, I was impressed with his experience as a contractor and as an athlete. Not only has he run the Peachtree Road Race 30+ times in the top 1000, he is a member of the Georgia Chain Gang. The “Gang” just finished a ride across America for charity and raised $80,000 for cancer research!
David and I visualized various configurations for the Master Bedroom renovation, which is the combination of a small bathroom, a guest bedroom and an office. It looks like we will be able to open the space up completely which gives us a lot of options for the design. David is keeping in mind the grand piano directly overhead on the second floor, and I am focusing on making the new space beautiful, functional and as accessible as possible for Alma in the years to come.

David Dowdakin did some remodeling for me many years ago in the early 90′s. If this is the same contractor, he did excellent work then. I would appreciate getting back in touch with him. I have a fixer upper coming up that could use his talents. Please give him my email address. It is good to know he is still active in the Atlanta area.
Allison,
I’m sure David will be happy to hear from you and I will email him now! I’m glad you found him here!
