I am an interior designer in Atlanta, Georgia and surrounding areas. I focus on residential design and am an Aging in Place Specialist. I particularly like my work in the aging in place field, because it adds a dimension of service to interior design. It allows folks to plan ahead and not be forced to leave their homes because the home has become inaccessible. As those of us who are in the younger age range of baby boomers begin to plan our retirement, if we are smart, we will plan ahead for our “aging in place” retirement houses.
Baby boomers are not my only clients though! I’ve had fun transitioning children’s rooms from Nursery to “Big Kid” room. I’ve enjoyed doing room “Makeovers” using just what the client has in a new way – sometimes it just takes a new set of eyes to see the possibilities – and a little education in design doesn’t hurt either.
I work with a great group of vendors and contractors – I am a believer that I don’t have to know everything – but I do have a resource with the answers.
My design aesthetic is evident in my own home. The ultimate goal is warmth and comfort – the feeling of being “at home,” not in a showroom or museum. That goal can be reached even with the most contemporary of designs.
